Learning Outcomes

Understand the computational carbon footprint of training large deep learning architectures (Green AI vs Red AI).
Explore model efficiency techniques: parameter quantization, pruning, and lightweight edge architectures (MobileNet).
Analyze how AI contributes to United Nations SDGs: climate monitoring, clean water access, and wildlife conservation in Assam.
Implement sustainable computing practices in enterprise data centers and school IT facilities.

Board Exam Scoring Tips

In 2-mark questions, contrast 'Green AI' (focuses on energy efficiency and computational accessibility) with 'Red AI' (focuses purely on accuracy regardless of massive compute costs).
Identify 2 UN SDGs that AI can accelerate in the Northeast (e.g. SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land).

Key Takeaways

Green AI prioritizes energy efficiency, carbon minimization, and cost reduction alongside benchmark accuracy.
Techniques like 8-bit quantization dramatically reduce memory bandwidth and energy draw on edge devices.
Unit 3 carries 2 marks in the Part A Employability examination.
